Training the next generation
of veterinary neurologists
At The Animal Neurology Center, education is at the core of our mission. Our residency program, developed in partnership with the University of Missouri, provides hands-on training for future veterinary neurologists. We also host clinical rotations, seminars, and continuing education programs to ensure veterinarians stay at the forefront of neurological advancements. By investing in education, we are shaping the future of veterinary neurology—one specialist at a time.
A national voice in veterinary
neurology
Dr. Fred Wininger is a recognized leader in veterinary neurology, sharing his expertise at conferences, symposiums, and educational events across the country. His lectures cover the latest advancements in diagnostics, surgical techniques, and patient care, helping veterinarians nationwide refine their approach to neurological treatment. Through his speaking engagements, ANC’s impact extends far beyond our hospital— influencing the field of veterinary neurology on a national scale.

Primary Clinical Training for Veterinary Students
As a leading training site, ANC partners with multiple universities both traditional and distributive model schools—to provide clinical rotations for veterinary students. Here, students gain invaluable “on-the-job” training in a dynamic and diverse caseload environment. With expert mentorship and a growth-focused atmosphere, our program equips students with real-world experience that bridges the gap between academic learning and clinical practice.
The Original Hybrid Residency Program
In partnership with the University of Missouri, ANC pioneered the first hybrid residency program in veterinary neurology. Since 2014, we’ve trained and graduated over 17 exceptional neurologists now practicing across the country. Our unique model combines the high-volume pace of private practice with the academic rigor of a university setting. Residents gain autonomy while being closely supervised, building both clinical confidence and surgical skill. In partnership with the University of Missouri, ANC pioneered the first hybrid residency program in veterinary neurology.
